I told myself I wasn't going to do a new post until I finished my frakking Dr. Horrible icons already (am a third finished), but being as how my laptop has been in its case for a solid week now, I decided that the blog wasn't what was holding me back.

Caroline was here last week, which was much fun, being as how I hadn't seen her since we graduated in '04. We had dinner, the guidelines for picking a restaurant being, "A place with lots of meat," and indeed, there was meat. We got to talk for a bit, and I hope it was a nice rest stop on the way to LA.

Thursday night Laura, Sarah and I stayed at a hotel, as a mini-vacation, where we either read or watched Arrested Development. So that was fun. It was just very peaceful, and quiet, and cool (we had the little air conditioner set at 52 degrees, aha), and a very nice little break before everyone goes back to school/work.

Marshall's birthday was last Friday, and it was just as much fun as you might expect.

This is my last week before subbing again. Sigh. This will definitely be my last year doing this, as nice as it is to write and all and be at home, because I have to do something at some point. So the purse straps are getting cinched, and hopefully I can bank as much as possible for what might be some income-free times to come in the future. Before that, though, I bought a bento box! I found one online for five dollars, and got it yesterday, and it's totally adorable and I love it. I made a lunch today, just to see how much I could fit in and to test it out: one cannot fit much food into a bento box, but that's kind of the point. Excuse the poor picture quality of my cell phone:

In the top tray, left to right, are apricot halves and almonds, prunes and a strawberry (which gives you a good size reference point), and a tiny salad with Caesar vinaigrette. In the bottom tray are egg crepe roll-ups with turkey, cheddar and basil (meant to emulate sushi rolls), celery and carrots. Eee.
