Hello Again!

I can't believe this blog is still active, ha.  I'm compiling a master list of books read and was hoping some of my earlier lists were still here to copy over - and they are!  I think I'm going to start blogging again.  Not that I've been using my LJ much recently, but I'll keep that for more fandom stuff, and just do my random personal thoughts here (where probably no one is reading them, which suits me just fine).

Starting on New Year's Day, I've been writing a short journal entry every day; my parents got me a Moleskin journal for Christmas.  (Interesting fact: though Moleskins are sort of generally considered as "fancy" notebooks, the paper in them is not all that great; if you use fountain pens, the ink will feather and bleed through.  I do manage to write in mine with a fountain pen, albeit one with an extra-fine nib.  Which means I don't have to fill my pen as often, so it works out.)  Mostly it's just been boring "this is what I did today" kind of entries - which has been useful in a sort of meditative way - but I've also been writing about my writing just a little bit.  I think I posted this here once before (years ago!), but I might get back into the habit of blogging here with my writing stuff.  Sometimes just sorting through things in my head, finding a way to articulate various thoughts, even if it's just rambly or incoherent to everyone else, is very helpful for me.

Not today, though - at work today and we're exceptionally busy.  It took me a solid hour to just get through this much!

I have been getting tons and tons of spam comments on this blog the last two days.  I'm wondering if it's because it's showing as an inactive blog.

I keep thinking about what I'd like to do with this blog.  I hate the idea of abandoning it.  Maybe I'll turn it into a writing blog...  It helps me to talk through my process, and ideas, and brainstorming, and all of that.  I don't especially need anyone to read it, but posting makes something seem more "real" than when I just jot down random ideas in my "random ideas" document.

As you may have guessed from the lack of update, the seller accepted a different offer - Laura and I did not get the house.  Now we're kind of back at square one.  It's tough, because houses generally fall into two categories.  There are houses we can afford, but they're in bad shape.  And there are nice houses, but we can't afford them.  This house we made an offer on was nice AND affordable, which is why we were so excited.  We offered $8000 more than the asking price but apparently that wasn't enough.  :(

So, a little bummed.  It's tough to go from already planning on having your own place to being back to living at home, no end in sight.  Ah well.

I've spent pretty much every weekend the past month writing, and it did actually pay off - I finished the second draft of my vampire screenplay in 30 days, which is pretty awesome.  I wasn't sure I was going to be able to juggle writing with a full-time job.  I did, though I couldn't really juggle, like, free time or watching TV or anything like that in the bargain, too.  But I should be in good shape for submissions here coming up, and then I can take a breather for a bit.  That'll be nice.

Haven't posted much here lately.  I'd kind of divided up my posting into fandom=LJ, real life=blogspot.  Except I feel like there isn't much going on in my real life nowadays.  Laura and I are looking at houses, because it would be cheaper - not to mention a better return on our investment - to buy a house than to rent.  Besides, the rental properties in our part of KC are dismal.  We've found a great one that we'd really like to be able to make an offer on, but I'm not holding my breath; nothing else has worked out for us.

Just don't have enough hours in the day.  I still enjoy work, but I wish I had more time to write, let alone read/watch TV/movies/work on Latin/get outside and be active.  If only I had an hour lunch instead of just a half-hour, I would get so much more done.
